Dr Ravi Lingam's specialist field is Forensic Psychiatry, Forensic Psychotherapy and Personality Disorders. He is Consultant in Medical Management of Sexual Arousal in HM Prisons and Probation Services, and a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in Independent Practice. He works full time as the Lead Consultant in Forensic Personality Disorder Service in the NHS, having trained in the Northern Deanery and Newcastle Hospitals.
Dr Ravi Lingam is Head of Service in a nationally-commissioned secure hospital service for offenders with personality disorders.
He is a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in independent practice for 15 years.
He is an accredited trainer and supervisor in general adult psychiatry, forensic psychiatry and psychotherapy working with multi-professionals in a variety of NHS and non-NHS settings including the voluntary sector and university.
He developed forensic psychotherapy training in Northeast England and reflective practice workshops in inpatient and HM Prisons and Probation Services. Dr Lingam was Assistant Associate Medical Director in Secure Service. He was Training Programme Director in Psychotherapy and developed the MSc training in the North of England in Application of Psychotherapy, working with multiprofessionals in a variety of NHS and non-NHS settings including the voluntary sector, linked to Buckinghamshire New University.
